Hellllooooo Thompson!
We have made it through 4 weeks of distance learning. Can you believe we have been practicing social distancing for that long? I cannot! I will say it as I have said before - I miss you all! We are getting ready to engage in our April Vacation and although this will be different than our vacations of the past it will be a much needed break for each of you and your teachers. During vacation, I challenge you to spend time outside. Go for walks with your family, take some virtual field trips, read a book, and power down from your school work (unless you are very far behind.) Enjoy your break. I know I will! Mrs. Procko

Today is one of those chilly days where I want to stay in my jammies snuggled up with a good book. So that is your challenge. Snuggle up with a book in a cozy nook of your house and read for at least 30 minutes. Today I will be reading from Orphan Island by Laurel Snyder for my 30 minutes, but I will also continue to tackle The Dressmaker's Gift by Fiona Valpy. I hope you are finding some interesting books to read during our quarantine.
Have a lovely day! Mrs. Procko Good Afternoon TMS! It is a late post in the day because my day has been filled with virtual meetings that have led to very productive conversations among the staff. I hope you alll enjoyed your UA classes today while your content teachers met and planned.
Today's challenge: Complete an assignment for one of your classes and if you need help, email your teacher or me, [email protected] for some help! Happy Tuesday! Happy Monday TMS! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and were able to enjoy some time outside. My family was able to take a nice long walk on the beach, play in our yard and decorate a dead end in our neighborhood with chalk.
I know we are back at our distance learning and we have a more specific schedule than before but I would like for you all to know that just because you are stuck at home does not mean you have to be stuck at home. There are some great virtual field trips that you can take to "get out of your house" for a bit and experience some new surroundings. Today I would like to invite you to go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium - yes the same aquarium Dory is from. Check it out here and have fun! Can you believe we have been out of school for 3 week and engaged in distance learning for that long as well? I am having a hard time wrapping my head around that fact. I have to admit, I miss you all very much. I miss our book chats, check ins and just seeing your lovely faces. Today's challenge isn't a tough one, but an important one. I challenge you to reach out to one of your teachers or someone else from TMS, it could be a friend from your class via email to let them know you are thinking about them and miss them.
Good Morning Thompson Students and Families!
Today's challenge is one that is quickly becoming popular across CT and the nation. Kids and their families are taking to their driveways and sidewalks to spread positivity and cheer for their neighbors. I challenge you to do the same. Check out this article published by WTNH on March 31 to learn more about the movement. Feel free to email me a pic of your work once you finish. [email protected] Today's challenge...Get out and play - away from others of course! Enjoy!
Good Morning Thompson students and families.
I don't know about you all but I have been getting bogged down by the news on the television in in my social media feeds. Consequently in order to combat the negativity I have been decreasing my tech time significantly. At night, I have been charging my phone in the kitchen, rather than my nightstand, and reading books rather than watching the news. Today's challenge is for you to do the same. After you finish your school work, I challenge you do stop your screen time for the day, grab a book or a board game or a puzzle and enjoy some downtime! We are heading into week three of our distance learning adventure. I hope that you feel more confident heading into your classes and assignments today and have a better grasp on the tech and your teacher expectations surrounding them. Remember, just like if we were in regular school, your teachers want to help so if you have a question it is imperative to ask! Here is your challenge today.
Today, you will need to enlist the help of your parent or older sibling. Using their smart phone open the google chrome browser search one of the following animals:
You've made it to Friday and its a beautiful day at that! I hope you get the opportunity to get outside again today and enjoy some fresh air. If you can't then just enjoy today's reading from Look Both Ways by Jason Reynolds located under the Read Aloud tab. I'm reading today's chapter beachside with a lovely view!
Today's challenge comes from Girls Who Code. You do not have to be a girl to participate in this challenge, but that is the name of the nonprofit that hosts these opportunities. Click here and try your best at the Stay Positive Binary Bracelets Activity. Enjoy! |
